Three-day annual free music festival Hardly Strictly Bluegrass kicks off tomorrow in Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park, and as always, the lineup is outstanding. Originally, the festival only invited bluegrass musicians to perform, but it expanded to include other genres in 2004, when the word "Hardly" was added to its name. If the American roots tunes aren't your cup of tea, you'll be glad to know that a number of acclaimed non-bluegrass acts are sprinkled throughout the lineup. From American indie rock to British punk, here are 10 acts to see for those of you who shy away from bluegrass.
