Just across the bay from San Francisco, St. George Spirits (2601 Monarch Street, Alameda, 510-769-1601), distills absinthe, brandies, liqueurs, vodka , single-malt whiskey, and rum agricole, and is easily accessible by car or ferry. Included is Hangar One Vodka, a brand which produces a range of core vodkas, including straight, mandarin blossom, kaffir lime, and citron buddha's hand vodkas, as well as a tasting room series: Fraser River raspberry, spiced pear, and chipotle.
Tours take place at the distillery on weekends at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday, and last approximately one hour. The tasting room, which is open from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., offers a "basic training" flight for $15 of Hangar One vodka and other St. George products.
